There were balloons flying and candles flickering. A large crowd – several hundred, in fact – sang “Happy Birthday”. Family members and friends gathered as close to the family’s home as they could get without blocking the rows and rows of people in front.
Come by our office any time over the next few weeks and you’ll think Washington Irving was tinkering in your dreams. We don’t have the tree up yet, but one might hear some Christmas music in the background, and you’ll certainly smell some holiday scents.
I really dislike summer. I don’t like heat; I don’t like humidity. The only good thing about summer is the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables. There’s just something about a cool morning in the fall or spring that is energizing and refreshing.
Who would’ve ever thought a game would spark so much interest for so many people of so many ages in so many demographics? It’s seems it came out of nowhere, and now one can see folks playing it at just about every public place around the area.
When HGTV airs season one of ‘Home Town’ sometime early next year, there’s a very good chance viewers from Jones County will see plenty of familiar faces and places. So far, there have been seven families – and their new homes – approved for the show.
