Local airport gets new jet service to Chicago
The local airport has just become one of very few similarly-sized airports in the country to have jet service to two hubs.
Airport officials announced American Airlines service via American Eagle to Chicago during a press conference on Tuesday. This is in addition to jet service already provided to Dallas/Ft. Worth.
“This is a great opportunity for a small community like ours,” Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport executive director Tom Heanue said. “You don’t see many small communities going to two hubs with jet service.”
Flights to Chicago begin June 2 with reservations available starting Sunday.
